3D Printed Custom Teeth Whitening Trays

Your at-home whitening results depend heavily on how well your trays fit. Ill-fitting trays can cause uneven whitening and gum irritation. With digital technology and in-house 3D printing, we create whitening trays that fit precisely and comfortably.

After taking a digital scan of your teeth and bite, we design and 3D print custom bleaching trays in our office—no impressions or outside lab required.

Some benefits of our 3D printed whitening trays include:

  • Extraordinary precision: Digital scans allow us to design trays that fit your smile exactly, helping distribute whitening gel evenly.
  • More comfort, less irritation: A secure fit keeps gel away from your gums.
  • Faster turnaround: In-house printing eliminates lab delays and shipping errors.
  • Easy remakes: We save digital scans, so replacements are simple if you ever lose or break your trays.

If you’re also considering a nightguard, we can design and 3D print both whitening trays and nightguards, based on your single digital scan.

Types of Professional Teeth Whitening Gels

Every smile is different, which is why we personalize the whitening approach based on your enamel, sensitivity levels, and goals.

Professional-strength whitening gels can vary by carbamide vs. hydrogen peroxide concentration, with:

  • Hydrogen peroxide typically working faster and being ideal for quicker results
  • Carbamide peroxide generally being gentler on enamel, making it great for sensitive teeth.

Teeth whitening gels can also vary by wear time, with options including:

  • Short-wear gels, which are usually applied for 15 to 30 minutes/day
  • Longer-wear gels, which are typically used for 1 to 2 hours/day
  • Overnight gels, which are generally used for several hours while you sleep

Other differences in teeth whitening gels can lie in sensitivity formulas, fluoride, and desensitizer enhancements. At West Vancouver Dental, we’ll help you choose the best option for you, based on your needs, effectiveness, and comfort.

What to Expect with Teeth Whitening

After receiving your custom whitening trays and gel, here’s how to achieve and maintain results while keeping your trays in good condition.

For daily tray care, follow these instructions:

  • Rinse your trays with cool water after each use.
  • Brush trays gently with a soft toothbrush. Avoid toothpaste, as it can scratch the material.
  • Let trays air-dry in a ventilated case.
  • Keep whitening trays away from pets and heat sources.

For the best possible results, here are some additional whitening care tips:

  • Avoid consuming staining foods or drinks for 30 to 60 minutes after whitening.
  • Use toothpaste for sensitive teeth if you experience tenderness.
  • Bring your trays to your teeth cleaning visits, so we can check their condition.
  • Store leftover whitening gel in a cool, dark place.

If your teeth are sensitive after whitening, please be aware that:

  • Minor sensitivity, often described as a “zing,” is common and typically fades within 24 to 48 hours.
  • If sensitivity continues or affects your ability to whiten consistently, contact us. We can adjust your gel strength, wear time, or tray fit.
